My Story

My mom, Sarah Jane Wilson, was born on April 19, 1944 and died on November 7, 2007.
I think she would say what she is most proud of is how much she gave to others, not only to the 7 children she devoted her life to, but to everyone who entered her life.  She was always the one to help others, not expecting very much in return.    Although she did not let many people see her during her last days, it was not because she did not want to see her friends or family; it was that she wanted all the people she loved to remember her as she was when she was well.   This poem speaks well of her wishes.

                                              WHEN I'M GONE
When I come to the end of my journey And I travel my last weary mile,
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned And remember only the smile.
Forget unkind words I have spoken; Remember some good I have done.
Forget that I ever had a heartache And remember that I've had loads of fun.
Forget that I have stumbled and blundered And sometimes fell by the way.
Remember I have fought some hard battles And won, ere the close of the day.
Then forget to grieve for my going, I would not have you sad for a day,
But in summer just gather some flowers And remember to place where I lay.
And come in the evening, when the sun paints the sky in the west.
Then stand for a few moments beside me And remember only my best.

Although there is no physical location of where she lay, her presence surrounds all. Remember her heart and remember her smile.
