Marian was not only my dear friend and neighbor, but she became a beloved member of my family. Her kindness, generosity and loving spirit made everyone around her feel alive. She always went out of her way to advise and direct me to do the best I could. She will be sorely missed, and she will always have a special place in my heart. May God bless her. Sofia Muscat

Marian Dunn was a wonderful friend and the finest colleague I had the good fortune of knowing during my 42 years of teaching in six different countries.. When my wife and I first arrived in Oman in 1998, Marian took us under her wing driving us about Muscat and giving us the lowdown on how to settle in. And then I found myself assigned as her teaching partner which turned out to be a piece...

For Mary, David and myself Marian was a wonderful Aunt, and a big part of our childhoods. We used to take it in turns to stay with her in the big city (Birmingham) for a few days. I took a bit of an interest in computers and so Marian took me, at age 10, on a computer programming course - 10 people, all sitting in a room in a hotel trying to get ZX81s to work (1982!) Very forward thinking of he...

I find myself thinking about how Marian and I, just 2 years apart, played together as two little girls in Morecambe. We had far more freedom than children nowadays. " Go out to play" was the call if it was not raining. As the elder I was responsible. Is this why Marian jibbed at the normal and looked for something different. At the age of 4 she went across the road to the local church, picked ...

Marian, you were a wonderful, strong woman - a real individual, with total commitment to what you believed in. But the other thing was that you had a really good heart. You were very good to your students and you were very good to me. I will miss you.

Marian, my cousin, an extraordinary woman, has always been fascinating from her earliest years. Her independent and adventurous nature are legendary within our family. She excelled in everything she did. We were delighted to be able to visit her in Oman and are grateful for her kindness in showing us this peaceful country. Her annual Christmas letters were always entertaining. When she reti...
