My Story

Phyllis was born on July 17, 1948 to Ralph and Brooksie (South) Deatherage in Granite City, Illinois. She went to school in E St. Louis and Belleville, Illinois and graduated in 1965 from Belleville West H.S., Belleville, Illinois. She had 3 brothers Mike. who passed away on August 29, 2008, Barry, and John and 2 sisters, Kathy and Nancy. She met Robert Wild and they were married in March 1968. They had two sons she was very proud of, Derek Robert and Damon Michael. She happily raised her boys and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah with her husband. Rob and Phyllis divorced and she lived by herself and was employed as an opthalmology assistant in SLC. In December, 2006 she was diagnosed with uterine leiomyosarcoma a very rare and fast spreading cancer. In early September 2007, she had to move in with some friends of hers, Jay and Arlene Beckstead. They took such great care of her. By mid October, she was bedridden and hospice was called in. In a matter of 6 weeks she went from still working to dying. We lost her on October 27, 2007 at 9:35 pm. She left behind her sons, Damon and his wife Wendy, and Derek and his wife Toni. She also leaves two grandchildren, Tennessee Ann (6) and Caden Gray (3). She was crazy about them. We miss you Sis and know you are walking with our Dad and brother Mike, and are happy. Baby Kai Alan Wild has arrived. September 10, 2009, 6 lbs, 6 oz and 19 inches long. I know she is very excited after all, he has a very special guardian angel.
