My Story

Miss Tamekia Jamell Taylor was born to Brenda and Matthew Taylor on July 23, 1973 in Charleston, SC.

Tamekia graduated from RB Stall High School in North Charleston, SC in 1993. She attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC where she earned a BA degree in English. After graduation she relocated to Atlanta, GA (where her father and sister resided). There she worked as a successful mortgage broker.

Miss Taylor was a member of Mt Moriah Baptist Church. Tamekia had a passion for helping people which led her to work diligently with the Economic and Empowerment Ministry. She helped the church family become educated in the skillful handing of financial and business affairs of everyday life.

Tamekia will be forever remembered by her parents Brenda Gantt, Matthew Taylor, and Gwendolyn Taylor; grandparents Felicia Franklin and Vernell Taylor; sisters Trina Taylor and Yulanda Taylor Anderson; brother Gawayne Franklin; stepsister Nicole Arnold ; stepbrother Beau Harris; niece Jaylondria Gantt; nephew Jalen Jamell Franklin; aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
