My Story

My husband Bob was born in Sandwich Kent. I met him when he was a boy soldier aged 17....I was 15. We met at a dance and immediately we just clicked. Bob went to Germany when he was 18 and on his first leave home we were married. He spent 15yrs in the army and when he came out he became a lorry driver. We had 3 children and 5 grandchildren. We had many ups and downs in our life but through it all Bob was loyal faithful and strong. In 2000 our lives changed when Bob was diagnosed with cancer....you can imagine our terror Bob was operated on and survived 2 terrible operations and MRSA...we thought he was getting over everything he had been through but then in 2002 our worst fears were confirmed when we were told he had secondary cancer....inoperable.....he was given chemotherapy and radiotherapy but all to no avail. In 2003 we renewed our wedding vows surrounded by friends and family. We had been married 39 years and we both knew we wouldn't be together for our ruby anniversary.   It was a wonderful day and one I will always cherish. Bob fought his cancer with courage and bravery.....he was determined not to give in but unfortunately cancer won and took my brave soldier away on July 5th 2004. I miss him every day.
