My Story

Ruth Conlisk Nye Dobson, 88, formerly of Colorado Springs CO, died November 7, 2009, at the Life Care Center of Pueblo CO. Born in East Orange, NJ on September 13, 1921, she was the eldest child of the late Joseph F. and Alice Weed Conlisk. In addition, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Dobson and her only sibling, William F Conlisk. She was married first during WWII to Irwin Clair Nye, originally of Wisconsin. They were later divorced. Her early adult years were closely bound to his assignments as a career army officer. She enjoyed life in the Philippine Islands, Germany and various parts of the United States. She later married Donald Dobson, who was retired from the U.S. Department of State. Prior to moving to Pueblo she had lived in Colorado Springs for more than forty years. She had been a Colorado Springs real estate agent in the 1960's, with Walker and Company, and was a long time employee of Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs. More than anything else, she cherished time spent with her beloved family. Survivors include her daughters; Alice Nye Fitch and husband John, of Charlottesville VA, Katherine Nye Rolfes and husband Carl James, of Colorado City, CO; three grandchildren, Gregory James Rolfes of Denver CO, Christopher Nye Fitch of Crozet, VA and Lisa Rolfes Feldt of Bailey CO and three great grandchildren; Madelynn Marie Rolfes of Denver, CO, Nathan Raymond Feldt of Bailey CO and Abigail Rose Fitch of Crozet, VA. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. November 21, 2009 at Evergreen Funeral Home in Colorado Springs CO, with the Reverend Dan Carlson officiating. Inurnment will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs. The family suggests that any desired memorial contributions be made in Ruth's memory to the Alzheimer's Association of your choice.
