I love you for always with the strength you passed to me. In the quiet whisper of faith you had in me that I would find my way. For the reassurance that our babies are all our babies and we forsake them not their troubles. I remember soon after joining the temple (98), you invited my husband and I to breakfast. Just to get to know us. I was so honored that you took that friendly step. I...

An Ode to Rabbi Sheryl Lewart Surrounded by sunlight reflected through six pointed stars at Kehillat Israel we are immersed in lavender, aqua, and blue light. Rabbi Sheryl Lewart, our teacher, our friend leads us through a meticulous maze, of holy writ, of astonishing myth. Time bends as we turn each corner to examine our past, our present. Rabbi Lewart was always ready to hear you out. As young as she was in years, she was an old soul. I appreciated her pragmatism and her spirituality. I will miss her. Elena Alcalay

Sherry was a wonderful friend and teacher, beginning at RRC. In addition to her wisdom and dedication to her studies, Sherry had a fabulous sense of humor, and a joy to spend time with. She taught us all how to live with integrity every moment of your life, and to never settle for less than your perfect happiness. Her light is now in heaven.

Rabbi Sheryl Lewart was a gentle wise woman whose generosity and spirituality guided my entrance into adult Judaism. She taught me in the class she developed. Then she guided me through the b'nai mitzvah class and process. Later she shared spiritual direction with me. Her own inner light, knowledge and personal kindness were always part of our interactions. She taught me to ask "Where is G...
