My Story

This page is in honor of Mireya Elizabeth Cardenas of Round Lake. "Mia" as she was known sadly left us on Tuesday, 8/27 when she accidentally drowned in Fox Lake. Mia was a cheerleader for Lake County Stallions and attended Fremont School.

I have a daughter (a cheerleader) and step-son (a football player) who are the same age as Mia and also in the 4th grade.  When I learned of this tragedy, all I could think to do is to honor Mia's memory.

Although I never met Mia or her family, I feel a closeness to her that is not describable.  Not only did she live in the next town, but she sadly passed on the lake that my family frequents on a regular basis.

Please help me honor Mia by wearing black and red to her services which will be held:

Visitation: Tuesday, September 3rd from 5 to 8pm
Services: Wednesday, September 4th at 6pm

The Chapel
1200 American Way
Libertyville, IL  60048

If anyone can provide me photos or more details about Mia to enhance this page, please send them to: staging101@gmail.com.

Please forward the link to this page to everyone you know and leave a message for Mia and her family.
