My Story

Maurice was a great guy with a wonderful personality, he was dearly loved by his family and close friends. He had a great gift of being able to communicate with everybody, young and old, even though he was only fourteen. Maurice loved life and his sense of humour was infectious. He made friends where ever he went and had so many interests including bikes, Gaelic football, soccer, wrestling and horses. He used to go to the horse fairs with his granddad, he loved it. He followed Manchester United and for his 11th birthday he went to Old Trafford to see Man U play Fulham. Unfortunately Fulham won that day but Maurice still had a great weekend.

Maurice was a highly-popular and much-loved second year student at Colaiste na Sceilge, Cahersiveen. His class, 2 Derarca, miss him terribly. They said “Maurice always made us laugh. He was always full of fun and recognised the good in every one. He always had a smile and a joke. We miss his hearty laugh in Class” Fr Niall, the Chaplain at the school told me of seeing Maurice laughing and joking around school, and more often than not, where ever Maurice was, his friend John wasn’t far behind.

Maurice has one sister, Katie. They had great fun together. Just recently Katie told me of a day when I had left for work, and herself and Maurice were waiting for the school bus to pick them up. When I had left, they went back into the house and dossed the day off school – no one ever knew. I bet there are a lot more stories like that, that will come out as time passes :-) Katie misses Maurice so very much.

Maurice is missed terribly. He was taken so suddenly and has left a huge gap in the lives of all who new him including his grand parents, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. Maurice was very special and we are all so proud to have known him, and I am very proud to have had him as a son.

We love you Maurice and are heart-broken without you. You are sadly missed and never will be forgotten x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x
