My Story

Before she retired as an inspecting engineer and consultant for Volmer & Associates and Gannet Flemming where she oversaw bridge and road construction for the State of Connecticut, she worked for over a decade for Modern Continental Construction as a site and project coordinator for bridge, tunnel, and road construction operations at many sites across New England including Waterford and East Haven, Connecticut as well as Uxbridge, Lowell, and Boston, Massachusetts.

In her 20's, Joyce worked as a securities clerk in Boston for Burgess & Leith and State Street Bank and later was an executive secretary in Erie, Pennsylvania. Over her life, she had lived in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. She enjoyed traveling, her husband, her grandchildren, and her cats. And, she never tired from haggling with unsuspecting sales persons, bargain hunting, or discovering stray cats in need of a loving home.

Joyce was born and raised in Boston. She was of Irish, Italian, and Azorean descent and a descendant of the Ennice family of Cohasset. She passed away after fighting cancer for more than a year. She will be sorely missed.
