My Story

I was born in Spring Lake, New Jersey.  I was the second son of Fred & Betty Matthews.  My older brother died after only eight hours.

During WWII I joined the Merchant Marines.  I was seasick for the first three days of every voyage.  Since they only lasted three days, this made it very difficult for me.  After the war I joined the Air Force and retired in 1970.

For many years after leaving the military, I sold mutual funds and life insurance.

I married Margie in 1951 and we had three beautiful daughters, Bette, Robyn and Bonni (who is now known as Elizabeth).  I even have a granddaughter, Sarah.  I was very proud of all of them, and remained very much in love with my wonderful wife.

I died in 1988 from a major heart attack.  I miss my family very much.
