My Story

Earl was born to Faye Lackey and Clyde Buck Lackey in Jackson County on October 25, 1933. When Earl was 3 years old His mother Clyde died of blood posioning, while crossing over a bobwire fence, a mole on her leg was torn open. She was 23. Along with Earl ,Clyde and Faye had 2 other boys Buddy and Fred. After the death of his mother Earl went to live with her sister,Myrtle. Earl loved his Aunt Myrtle and Uncle Ed. He thought of her as a Mama and he loved her children very much. Aunt Myrtle even saved Earl's life when he was little. Earl's daddy, Faye had met and married Eula Mae Chaffin. They had 3 girls and 1 boy. Dorthy(Williams) Bertha(Goolsby) Joyce(Whited)and Jimmy Lackey. Earl loved his brothers and sisters very much and carried that with him always. He always loved to visit them and used to carry an video camera with him to film them. At the age of 19, he met Mable Brown and they married. They had 4 girls Kathy(Bowman) Karen(Wardell) Jane(Breedlove) and Wanda(Bowman). Earl worked two jobs and done the best he could to raise the girls. After divorcing his first wife, thru a nice woman he knew named Blanche (Heady)he was introduced to her neice, Helen(Mayberry),they were both from Jackson County, and were married on July 19,1969.
In 1971 their daughter Lisa(Sissy)was born. The folowing year, Earl had a son, Earl Glen(Bubba) They lived at 906 South 12th Street in Nashville until Earl's death.Earl made many friends and loved to go to the flea market. On December 14, 1997, after returning home, Earl had a massive heart attack, and had passed away before the ambulance arrived. He was 64. He had only retired just under a year and never got to move back to Jackson County like he always wanted to do. He lived a good life and was a equally good hard worker. Earl never once smoked or drank. He will be remembered for his morals and strong detication to his family. He is missed so much. He now has several grand children and even great grand children whom he never got to meet. He is buried near Helen's mother, Nervy(Mayberry) whom he loved, in his beloved Jackson County, Tennessee.
