My Story

Beloved husband to wife Betty and children William and Cindy. Grandfather of Erica and Alex. He passed away quietly after a long illness and is now in the comfort of our Heavenly Father.
Our hearts hurt now at his loss, but he would want us to remember him for all the years of happiness we had with him while he was here and not dwell upon life without him.
God chooses the time when he needs to recall us home and it was Clarence's time to return to his creator, as God had work for him to do there now.
We'll continue to know that he's with us in the future, but simply in a different way. There will be many moments ahead when we feel his presence around us.
While here on Earth, he'll be remembered for his time served in the Navy, as a proud captain of the U.S.S. Omaha, the heavy cruiser that typically patrolled the waters off the coast of Alaska during the late 1950's and early 1960's.
We'll fondly recall some of his stories about how no submarine slipped past his watch.
A graduate of  the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, he was number one in his class when he graduated in 1950 with the school's highest honors.
It was there he went onto begin his service with the Navy, serving proudly for 20 years.
While in the Navy, he met the love of his life, Betty....Married in January of 1958, they celebrated their 50 year anniversary on January 2nd of this year. Despite his body weakened from the cncer he so valiantly fought, he and Betty managed to take a long walk together, recounting many years of good memories together the past 50 years.
His life after the Navy foound him as a dedicated employee to Thomasville Furniture of High Point.
He served as company comptroller for 25 years, from 1973 through 1998 when he retired.
We and many mourn his passing today, but will forever remember him as a man of sincere caring and concern for others, be it family, friends, and even strangers
