My Story

A message from Angel's father Kevin to all who cherished this vibrant soul and mourn her passing.

Dear hearts, every one of us has been crushed by the terrible loss of our beloved Angel.  It seemed to me that while the carnations cry and many people make memorials in her honor, Angel is looking down upon us from her heaven with that trademark look on her face, as if to ask, "Why are you crying when I'm in paradise
?"

When her grandmother Zoe died, Angel was only six years old.  It was her first funeral, first actual experience of death and loss of a loved one.  After she told her grandmother goodbye, she asked me where Grandma Zoe was right now.  I knew, yet was dumbfounded as to how I should answer my little girl.  Julie solved that dilemma for me.  She told Angel, "Grandma may not be here with us, but she's up in heaven where she's happy, and she'll watch over you always.  One day, when you're called back home, you will meet Grandma Zoe again, so don't be sad, sweetheart."  Over the years, our daughter continued to ask us when she would get to "go home",  and looked at me and Julie as if we knew the answer to that one.  On her graduation night, Angel retold the anecdote of Grandma Zoe and going home.  We were having dinner with her and a group of friends and family.  Some of Angel's friends were scared to lose that close relationship they had in high school, but my beautiful daughter calmed their fears.  She said, "No matter where you go, just remember that I'm with you inside your heart and that way we'll never forget each other."  Julie tried to hold back her tears practically impossible so Angel held her mother in her arms, soothing her as Julie had on so many nights when our little angel was a baby.  I appreciate how we all have suffered such a tremendous and feeling loss of our beloved Angela Renee, and you are welcome to honor her memory however you wish, as long as you don't forget how she cared for you and how she would feel if you let your grief take you into oblivion.  It's all right to let go; that eventually has to happen for all of us.  Just remember your relationship and memories together with Angel, and then, like a real angel, give her wings to go home.

Julie and I wish to thank everyone who has given so generously to help our family and the Bishop family as well.  For those of you who create tributes and post memories, thank you so much!  We will not forget your offerings.  To our beloved Angela Renee, we know you are happy and have true wings now...we just wish there had been a little more time to savor our moments and memories together.  We love you, Snoopy!

With love,
Kevin Wisecarver
