My Story

Mr.Stockton was born November 30,1926, to William Burton Stockton Sr. and Mable Stockton in Dublin. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II as a baker on several ships. He married Mary Charlotte Word June 16,1946,in Denton. His first note to her was written in 1932 when he asked her to marry him. They were in the first grade. He worked in the automotive industry and,for the last 20 years, was a boat mechanic at Rock Creek Camp, Possum Kingdom Lake. He was a master Mason at Graford Lodge 1026. Survivors include his wife,Charlotte, three adopted children, Kim,Bret and Melody;Seven grandchildren;2 great grandchildren; and 2 brothers.

This is a living testament to the love and integrity that my Pops carried with him during his life. That love and integrity did not stop with his beautiful wife of 63 years, but carried on through the 3 children that he and Mimi adopted, raised, and loved as their own. That love was carried on through his 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. This love was evident when he would buy us scratch off lotto tickets, or when he allowed his oldest grandson to drive his tractor around Rock Creek Camp only to have it run into a tree and axle broken. He gave all he could to ensure the happiness of his family. Pops would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it more than him. It's this love, integrity, and kindness that make him the most important man in my life.I adore him with every fiber of my being.I think i can speak for everyone here when I say: I love you;I'm going to miss you, and look forward to the day that the good Lord reunites us again in "the big deer stand in the sky".Only now you will be cancer free, your hearing will be intact, and you will have all ten fingers.Yes Pops,we will be together again where the deer are plentiful and the Cowboys will win the Super Bowl. I love you Pops, and may you forever rest in peace.
