My Story

Malachi Ezekiel Harvey was a fighter from the moment he first began kicking in my womb.  He wad due to be born February 23, 2008, but had to be delivered early because I got sick with toxemia.  I slipped on water and fell down at work. When I went to the emergency room, the doctors began running tests on me.  When the tests came back, they told me my organs were shutting down due to severe Preeclampsia.  I was very shocked.  They did an ultrasound to see how Malachi was doing and he was doing fine.  Four days later, they had to deliver him by emergency c section because the blood flow to his umbilical cord was flowing the wrong way.  He came out breathing on his own and swinging his right fist.  The nurses wrapped him up to get ready to take him to the NICU.  He managed to get that right fist right back in the air to swing some more.  The doctos were still working on me when the nurses took the baby out, but  my mom followed them to the hall way.  To her surprise, Malachi was crying and still swinging his right fist.  His fight reminds me so much of myself.  He and I have a close bond.  I talked to him while he was in the womb.  I sang to him and I played a song for him nightly called, "I Can Live".  The words are: I receive it.  I receive life.  I receive joy. I receive peace.  I receive all the things that you have for me and now...now I can live.  My baby got still everytime that song was on.  Everyday that he spent in the NICU, I was there.  I got a chance to hold his hand, talk to him and smooth his hair.  He responded to my voice by kicking and moving his little body.  He was born weighing 1 pound and 8 ounces on the 18th of November.  Due to complications surrounding his prematurity, he went to be with our Lord on November 21st.  I got a chance to hold him when he slipped into God's presence.  He appeared to be smiling and he had the most peaceful look on his little face.  I miss him, but because I have a relationship with the One who created him, we will meet again in Heaven.  Mommy loves and misses you more than words can describe.  Your legacy will live on and your memory will get stronger by the day.  If I could hug and kiss you now, you would probably beg me to stop.  You are my little fighter and I'm so proud to have carried you.  I'm so proud of you.
