My Story

Rev. Linda Marie Holden Thibodeaux was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the third child to Elijah and Ruby Lee Holden. She was raised by her parents to work hard, respect others and to love the Lord. Linda was baptized at an early age at the Second Evangelist Baptist Church in Metairie, Louisiana. She testified however, that she was saved in 1980, thirty years ago. Linda graduated from L.W. Higgins High School in 1975 where she excelled in the creative areas of debate and art.

On May 1, 1979 Linda Marie Holden was joined in holy matrimony to Darryl James Thibodeaux. Four children were born to this union: Derrylin, Ruby, Darryl, Jr., and Elijah. Linda’s educational pursuits include a year at the University of New Orleans; Spiritual Life Bible College and she obtained a Master’s of Theology Degree from the Minister’s Graduate School of Theology. She began her employment as an accounting clerk for _Furniture Store, Russell’s Cleaners and Sears. In 1990 our Lord led Linda to bring His word to “the least of these” our young. She founded and opened ABBA Academy and Preschool which foundation was reaching families with the Word of God through their children. ABBA Academy and Preschool prospered, families witnessed of their blessing and its students and parents today continue to speak of what a benefit this early start gave to them. ABBA Academy continues to carry on this legacy.

Linda Thibodeaux and Darryl Thibodeaux since their marriage have always been led by and followed the guidance of our Lord. In 1993 our Lord moved on Darryl to pick up his family and travel to Minneapolis to aid his brother Rufus in the church ministry at Holding Forth the Word of Life. As was Abraham, so to was he obedient to the Lord. Soon after arrival in Minnesota, Linda opened a Child Care Center for the church; Holding Forth the Word of Life. That center was based on the same foundation given to her by God in 1990. A few years later Linda opened their family’s first Minnesota Child Care Program in Maple Plain: Kids Dominion. Linda began training childcare workers nationally in cultural diversity and is renowned for her expertise in setting up child care centers, her insight into the needs of families, her giving spirit and her love for God’s people. An entrepreneur from birth, Linda’s business acumen also led to them becoming a resturanteur and alsointo the area of real estate. Linda epitomizes Proverbs 31: 14-21. She learned hard work from her father.

In 1999, Darryl, Linda and their family joined in worship at Spiritual Life Church. While at Spiritual Life, Linda Holden Thibodeaux was called by God to preach His word and she was licensed into the Gospel Ministry by the Covenant Life Ministry. Rev. Linda Holden Thibodeaux has served the congregation of Spiritual Life faithfully. She has preached, counseled couples and youth, taught the professional women’s bible study, presided over the Spiritual Life Bible School Alumni, and served as the department head for the Women Taking Dominion ministry. No job was too small or too large for Linda to do in her witness for Jesus Christ and kingdom building.

Linda and Darryl have since opened three other childcare centers. Through her centers and the programs Linda designed she has taught and touched the lives of hundreds of children and families. Linda’s life was devoted to excellence. Whatever or whomever she touched; she expected and even demanded excellence. She did not compromise the Word of God as it was a “lamp unto her feet and a light unto her path.” (Psalms 119:105) Linda was continually evolving into the woman God desired, ever yielding to the leadership of His Spirit.

Loving, Caring, Patient, Giving, and Faithful… These attributes are just drops of water in the ocean that was her life. She was a friend to many, teacher and role model to more. Her smile brought joy to your heart and her stern, but fair words made you want to better yourself. She spoke positively into the lives of all she met and never turned her back on a person in need. Her time was her most precious gift and she used it all to help change lives for the better. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, but most of all she loved God with all of her heart. The imprint that she left on this world can never be washed way. She will live on in the hearts and minds of all those who were lucky enough to have know her. We love you and will miss you!

Linda leaves this life to morn her loving husband: Darryl James Thibodeaux, Sr., who’s prayers at her bedside were the most powerful ever heard from a man for his wife; two daughters: Derrylin Thibodeaux Young and Ruby Lee Davis; two sons Darryl James Thibodeaux, Jr. and Elijah Treville Thibodeaux; two sons-in-law Nyenatee Davis and Brandon Young; daughter-in-law: Quiana Thibodeaux; three grandsons: Edan, Pierre and Israel; her mother, Ruby Lee Holden of Avondale, Louisiana; her grandmother, Sarah Green of Metairie, Louisiana; two sisters: Denise Holden and Eliza Craft of New Orleans Louisiana. Four brothers-in-law Rufus Thibodeaux of Golden Valley, Minnesota, Ruddley Thibodeaux and Gerald Craft of New Orleans, Louisiana and Cornell Delaney, Sr. of Waggaman, Louisiana; three sisters-in-law Kitty T. Wright and Marlene Thibodeaux of New Orleans, Louisiana and Diane Thibodeaux of Golden Valley, Minnesota; aunts, uncles, and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
