My condolences to Sandy, Ryan, Rory and Robb and the rest of the extended Quiller family! Q was one of those very rare people that made you feel like you were the most important person in the room or on the track. He always made time. His encouragement and motivation have been a meaningful part of my life and so many others.

Jerry was a Ram. Jerry was a Buff. Most of all, Jerry was a dear, dear man who did so much to advance his sport and give his heart and soul to his student-athletes. In my 35 years as a local sports writer, Jerry was simply one of the best coaches around and it was a pleasure and privilege to know him. My condolences to his entire family.

Coach Q believed in me and I thrived. I wasn't one of his best athletes (not in a longshot) but I went on to compete internationally after college and I am still running. Q called me "Bulldog." He said I "chomped onto the shorts of the competition in front of me and never let go." He yelled for all of us in races running from one end of a golf course to another shouting into the horn until ...

Q was one in a million. Any kid he knew that was a meet he was at, knew that they would have at least one person that would be cheering for them. Q cheered for me even when I was racing his athletes! I loved running at Mt. Sac. and one of the reasons was I knew I would hear Q! I am sure he lost his voice every weekend cheering. He truly was one of the best and one of the kindest people I hav...

I will always remember his enthsiasm and support for all those who he came in contact with. I was honored to have him as coach when he first started at the college level at CU in 1970 and how he helped me to reach my success in the college ranks. I also picked up what made him so successful with his athletes as a coach and have applied much of what I learned (watching him) to now apply in my ...

Q, from the 1st day of teaching together in 1968 at West High, Torrance you have influenced my life. The adventures and experiences included hitch hiking back from Denver to So CA in Xmas '68, traveling together in Europe the whole summer of '68, rooming with Nolan and you in '68-70, touring and skiing Colorado, your family's ranch, rafting rivers in the summer of "69, and becoming our best ma...

I had the pleasure of spending time with Jerry again at the FCHS Class of 60 50yr reunion. I counted Jerry as on of my best friends in High School. We both played basketball and ran track. When we were both cut from the basketball team in our Senior year, Jerry put together a group of us as a team to scrimmage teams at the small high schools that were around Fort Collins. His dad had someth...

I flew out to see Q a while back, and in true Q fashion, he was on a mission, we stayed up one night, making a mock-up card board building schematic of how CSU could expand and have an indoor track. Yes, Q you are special! In closing I hope the entire Quiller family will really know the influence Q had on all of us; articulated by a young runner I was privileged to coach who runs for Army an...

.But that was Q, summed up by the Marist coach who remembers fondly the first time when he met Q. At the ICAAAA meet, Q responded, hey Marist, you are in our backyard, how you doing….Q introduced himself and wanted to know how he was training his kids and stuff….how you doing this, how you doing that….The Marist coach commented that this situation was crazy as this would be like Ted Williams a...

Q would always be thinking of the other person, be it athlete, coach, mother, father, your son or daughter or as Laura says, the person emptying the trash. My daughter knows Q as the one who always wanted to know how she was doing and then had a joke for her: I 1 skunk…I 2 skunk….Some writer paying tribute stated Q had such a small ego that couldn't even fit on the tip of a track needle spik...
