My Story

I was a Armenian military commander and participant in the Nagorno-Karabakh war. I was the founder and commander of the "Crusaders" volunteer detachement, and was known by the nickname "The White Bear".

I was one of the Armenians from the Diaspora who volunteered to go and fight in the Karabakh conflict.

I was born in 1962 in Aleppo, Syria.

My grandfather Sahak, commonly known by his nome de guerre Aslan, fought in Western Armenia and Artsakh during the Armenian national liberation movement period and was the bodyguard of General Drastamat Kanayan.

After being graduated from Armenian schools in Aleppo and Lebanon, i moved with my family to Nigeria. in 1978, i moved to Germany to receive a degree in architecture. I was graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Frankfurtn Engineering University. After my graduation, i lived in Fresno, California.

I arrived in Armenia for the first time after the devastating 1988 Spitak earthquake, where i assisted the affected communities and helped to raise funds from the diaspora.

I organized the "Crusaders" detachment and participated in the battles of Martuni, Hadrut, Lachin and Kelbarjar In the wake of the military agression from Azerbaijan against the Armenian Christian population in the Republic Karabakh.

During the battle for the height of "Pushkenyal" i fought with my detachment and keeping the height until the arrival of Armenian forces.

I died on June 26, 1993 near Mardakert in battles near the village Maghavuz.

I was killed through the bullet of an Azerbaijani Sniper.

I am buried at Yerablur cemetery at the outskirts of Yerevan in Armenia.
