My Story

David McArthur Pride resided in Washington, DC. He was called to heaven on Monday, May 18, 2009 at the age of 22.

David was born on June 30, 1986 at Greater Southeast Hospital to his parents Donna Pride and David DeVaughn. He leaves behind his loving daughter Makayla Pride, and brothers Denzel, Donnell, and Demetrius Pride. David was also survived by his grandparents Rebecca and McArthur Jackson, uncles Christopher and Lance Jackson, aunt Veronica Jackson and was preceded in death by his beloved aunt Fonda Pride on March 14, 2007. David was extremely loved by his cousins Bridget, Judice, Lakia, Derricka, Jacquela, Geremy, Gerald, Lance, Jr., Josiah, Lorenzo, Jonathan, Phillip, Emanuel, Lil Chris, and Julius, and a host of other family and friends.

David gave his life to Christ in March 1998 when he was baptized at Sharon Baptist Church in Washington, DC. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and later joined New Canaan Baptist Church in Washington, DC where he was a member until his death.

David attended DC Public Schools and graduated from Frank W. Ballou Senior High School. He was part of the Ballou Knight football family where he played offensive and defensive lineman. David later attended Allegheny Community College studying social work. He also coached varsity football at Friendship Edison Blow/Pierce Middle School.

David was a loving and respectful son, dependable big brother, and caring father. His humor was addictive and always brought out a smile. He was very supportive and willing to help and give back to the community. His laughter and smile will truly be missed.
