My Story

William C. Botelho, Jr., 88, of William St., No. Westport, passed away Thursday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Husband of Alice (Silvia) Botelho. Born in Fall River, son of the late William C. and Maria (Dias) Botelho. He was the best father who more than once did whatever his children needed to make them more successful and to help them whenever the need arose. He loved his wife, Alice, more than anything else in the world. They have been dating for 70 years, the last 66 as husband and wife. A WW II veteran, he served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946. A lifetime member of the DAV, he was a past commander of the HS Nickerson Chapter #118 in Westport and served as an officer at both the state and national levels. He worked at the former Sarama Lighting for 34 years before retiring in 1982. Besides his wife, Bill is survived by his sons, Richard (wife-Dora) and William (wife-Linda); a foster son, Leonard Bourque; his grandchildren, Victoria Botelho, Tracy (Botelho) Havermann, Christine Bercier, Steven, Robert and Scott Botelho, Amy and Julie; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Diane Vickrey, Lydia Maynard and Mary Russell.
