My Story

My name is Melanie, this memorial is in memory of my beloved Mum who i miss every minute of everyday.

My Mum really was a Mum in a million, she would do anything for anybody and she loved her family with all her heart.

Mum became ill in 1997 but nobody really new what was wrong, she lost lots of weight and barly ate a thing. Mum had an ulser on her leg which took months to heal, but it did eventually go. Then all of a sudden Mum had a lot of fluid in her legs and in her stomach, she was admitted to hospital for tests and they found she had cirosis of the liver which had been caused by her diabetes. From that minute Mum got really sick. Mum had to stay in bed as she had no energy left and was very weak, she was unable to eat at all at this point as the medication had given her thrush in her mouth so all Mum could have was build up drinks (but she didn't like them much)  my husband Grant and i would visit my Mum everyday, to stop her gettin any infection we would have to wear gloves and an apron and Mum had been put in a room by herself. My dad Bryan would be by my Mum's side all the time.
On the 11th August 1998 Dad was with Mum who was very sleepy from the amount of drugs she had to take when she was to be taken for an xray, Dad asked why as she had only been having CT scans to check the liver funtion. Dad was to get the shock of his life when the sister asked had he not been told about the accident. My Mum had been taken out of bed for a wash by a nurse, the nurse let her go and Mum fell to the floor (she hadn't been out of bed for weeks) The xray showed that Mum's hips were smashed to pieces.
The next day was my birthday but when i went to see my Mum she didn't even open her eyes and
she had so much pain relief to keep her comfortable, but every now and then she moved and let out a cry. I would have done anything to stop the pain. It was the first year she never saw her daughter on her birthday and the worse birthday of my life. We visited Mum that night and a doctor came to take blood but he couldn't as her veins were closing down, she squissed my hand so tight and i knew he was hurting her so asked him to stop. I asked him if my Mum was going to die but he said he couldn't tell me. I kissed my Mum goodnight and thanked her for my card and present and promised i'd be back tomorrow.
Dad had to have a meeting at the hospital the next day to decide about the hip replacements, In the afternoon Dad came to my house to let me know what was happening, but nothing could have prepared me for what he was about to say.
There was to be no operation, they Gave my Mum days to live. I remember my legs buckling beneth me as i fell to the floor screaming NO NO NOT MY MUM The fall had sent her body into shock and everything was giving up. We didn't know but it wasn't to be days just hours.
An hour later my Mum fell asleep, and became my very own angel and i wasn't there holding her and never said Goodbye.

I will never forgive the hospital that took my Mum from me and her grandchildren.
The day she left, she took a piece of me with her and i will never get over losing my Mum and my best friend.
I LOVE HER
I MISS HER
I NEED HER
I WANT HER....................ALWAYS X X
