George L. Tritt

Nov. 9, 1931 - Feb. 23, 2008

George L. Tritt, 76, Kokomo, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008, at his residence. He was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Walton, the son of Lonnie and Eldora (Cook) Tritt. On March 29, 1952, in Arkansas, he married Mary Jane Grubbs, who preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 1998.

He served in the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He worked as a truck driver for 35 years. He was a member of Cornerstone Christian Church, ABATE and Brothers of the Third Wheel.

Surviving are four sons, George R. and Nina Tritt, Ray L. and Gloria Tritt, all of Kokomo, David Tritt, Alabama, and John and Crystal Tritt, Utah; three daughters, Barbara Edwards, Kokomo, Norma Bailey, North Carolina, and Emma Watson, Kokomo; 27 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two half sisters, Mary Lou Tritt and Rosellen Tritt, both of Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, James R. Tritt; grandson, James Roger II; and a brother, Blane Tritt.

Services are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 725 S. Main St., with Pastor Paul Enochs officiating. Burial, with military rites performed by the Kokomo VFW Military Rites Team, will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the mortuary.
