My Story

Born in Lancaster, PA, USA in 1947, he was adopted by Albert and Roberta Zercher.  He joined the Marines at the age of 16 and served in Vietnam, Dominican Republic and lived for 3 years in Japan. 

He has 3 daughters, Kimber born in 1984, Stephanie born in 1988 and Mallory born in 1992.  He married Susan in 2001 and has 2 step sons, Jamie born in 1988 and Craig born in 1990.

Al was close to his mother in law and father in law, Alice and Sandy and Alice always told him that he was the best son in law she had ever had!  He named the latest addition to the family, the kitten of the family cat, Brandy.  He insisted on picking from the litter, a ginger and white kitten and named him Braveheart. 

He was kind, generous, dogmatic, loud, lovable, fair and intelligent and loved to read and to watch documentaries on things like the Universe, Ancient Egypt and Paranormal. 

He was very logical and used to say that life was so exciting because you never knew what the next day would bring.  He enjoyed his pint of Stella and his cigarettes and preferred to stay at home rather than go to pubs. 

He was my husband and my soul mate
